The Oil Cleansing Way

Along my journeys to improve my skincare products and to make my own, I have started using the Oil Cleansing method.

In short, oil removes oil.

Because I am over 50 :) I have chose to use no Castor Oil in my cleanser.  I have read others suggest if you have oily skin you might want to try 2/3 Castor oil to 1/3 carrier oil.  If you have more  normal skin you would probably want to make your cleanser with a mix of 1/2 Castor Oil and 1/2 carrier oil.  If your skin is dry,  try 1/3 of your mixture out of Castor Oil to 2/3 carrier oils. These ratios are completely personal preference.  There is no right or wrong here.  What does your skin like.   So make up a small batch with the above guide and change it up the next time.

The oils you choose are completely up to you. The best will be  cold pressed, pure and organic.

My first batch I used  1 oz Grape seed oil, 1 oz Almond oil and 1 oz Jojoba oil as my carrier oils.  I added drops of Lavender and Geranium Essential oils until I liked it.

It was wonderful.

Just to try something different this time I am using:

Carrier Oils:

1 oz  Grape seed oil – I bought my oil at our nutrition store , here is one Now Foods Grape Seed Oil, 16 Ounce

2 oz Almond Oil – NOW Foods Sweet Almond Oil, Moisturizing Oil, 16 ounce

1 oz  Avocado Oil – Now Foods Avocado Oil, 16 Oz

Essential Oils:

Do not think you have to use essential oils, I like the smell.

10 drops Geranium oil –  buy here or on Amazon doTerra Geranium Essential Oil 15 ml

5 drops Lavender Fine – buy here or on Amazon Lavender Oil 100% Natural Pure

Now, if you are wondering why the gelatin is in the picture I  heated the Grape seed, Almond and Avocado oils and added 3/4 of a tsp to this mix.  I am hoping it will thicken  up the oils so they don’t come out of my repurposed tube as quickly.

Stay tuned, I will let you know.

How do you use this cleanser?

I use this cleanser just like every other cleanser I have ever used.  It is on the shelf in my shower.  I wet my face, I pour a little of the oil in the palm of my hand, rub my hands together then onto my face.  I massage it in, let it sit a minute and then remove it with a warm wet wash cloth.

Using a moisturizer afterwards again is up to you.  I do, again, being over 50 I am trying to keep those wrinkles away!!  I use my wonderful homemade Keep The Wrinkles Away Cream.

Do you use the oil cleansing method?  Do you have any questions or want more information? Drop me a note below.
